VPN AND HELPDESK
VPN:
1. What is a VPN? VPN is an acronym that stands for Virtual Private Network. It is a software that will
allow you to stay connected to the FirstBank network while working remotely.
2. Why do we need a VPN? When logged-onto the VPN, your computer has a secure connection to
the FirstBank network. As a result, you will be able to access almost anything you could access while
working in an office. Your computer will receive security updates. You will be able to access network
files. You can utilize the Microsoft Lync instant messenger and the contents of your “My Documents”
folder will be backed-up so that they will not be lost if your computer’s hard drive fails. Lastly, our
regulators are now requiring this.
3. When should I use this? Any time that you connect to the internet from outside of a FirstBank office,
you should be using your VPN. The perk of using the VPN any time you’re using your computer, it
secures all communications and allows you to use your aircard, home wifi, or other connections that
would be potentially unsecure without a VPN.
4. To Obtain VPN credentials, you’ll need to complete a Remote Access Request Form, have your direct
manager sign and return it to Helpdesk@firstbankonline.com.
Using Forticlient in Windows 10:
1. Launch Forticlient from your desktop.
• You can also click on the Forticlient
(green shield) icon from your task bar, and
select “Connect to FirstBank VPN.”
4. You will receive an additional prompt for
your token code. This code will be obtained
by the Fortitoken Mobile app on your
phone, which you should be set up with
prior to using VPN. Enter the code and
press OK.
2. Select Remote Access from the menu on the left:
5. Once you are successfully connected you
will see this screen. You can now minimize
Forticlient and continue working over VPN.
Use the Disconnect button to disconnect.
3. Enter your network username and password
(same as computer login) and press Connect.
